EMC / EMI Shielding Tapes

Würth Elektronik WE-FAS EMI Absorbers
The Würth Elektronik EMC/EMI shielding tapes offer reliable, cost-effective electromagnetic interference suppression for a wide range of electronic and industrial applications.
Available in both copper and aluminium foil variants, each tape features a highly conductive acrylate adhesive, ensuring excellent electrical continuity through the bond line as well as across the tape surface.
Supplied on rolls, these materials are converted in-house to your exact specifications — whether you need simple rectangular pads, complex profiled gaskets, or kiss-cut sheets ready for peel-and-place assembly.
The Materials
Copper Foil EMI Shielding Tape
The copper foil variant delivers outstanding conductivity, making it the preferred choice where the lowest possible surface resistance is required.
The conductive acrylate adhesive bonds the tape securely to most surfaces while maintaining an electrically continuous path from the adhesive face through to the copper foil surface.
Aluminium Foil EMI Shielding Tape
The aluminium foil variant provides an excellent balance of shielding performance, light weight, and value.
With the same conductive adhesive system and form factor as the copper version, it is well-suited to general EMC screening applications where cost efficiency is a priority.
Typical applications
EMC/EMI shielding tapes are used wherever stray electromagnetic fields need to be contained, absorbed, or redirected. Common application areas include:
Electronics & PCB Assembly
-
Shielding of sensitive PCB areas and components
-
Grounding straps and bonding connections
-
Cable wrap and termination for EMC compliance
-
Internal screening within enclosures and housings
Consumer & Industrial Electronics
-
Laptop, tablet, and smartphone internal shielding
-
Industrial control panels and motor drives
-
LED drivers and power supply screening
-
Automotive electronics and in-vehicle infotainment systems
EMC Testing & Prototyping
-
Rapid prototyping of shielding solutions prior to tooled gaskets
-
Temporary or semi-permanent EMC fixes during product development
-
Screening enclosures for compliance testing environments
General Fabrication
-
Conductive gasket replacement in thin cross-section applications
-
Sealing joints and apertures in metal enclosures
-
Bonding dissimilar metals where electrical continuity is required

How we convert the EMC/EMI Shielding Tapes
Because these tapes are supplied to us on rolls with a ready-applied conductive adhesive, we are able to precision-convert them into custom parts using three complementary processes.
Whether you need a one-off prototype or a high-volume production run, we can deliver parts ready for immediate assembly.
Kiss-Cutting
Kiss-cutting cuts through the tape and adhesive layer without cutting the release liner, leaving finished parts in place on a continuous backing sheet.
This is the ideal format for peel-and-place assembly, allowing operators to quickly pick and apply parts without handling loose pieces. Kiss-cut sheets or rolls can be sized and arrayed to suit your assembly line.
Die-Cutting
Die-cutting uses custom-made steel-rule or solid dies to stamp out high volumes of identical parts at speed and with excellent repeatability. This process is well-suited to straightforward shapes in medium to high production volumes, offering a cost-effective per-part price once tooling is in place.
CNC Knife Cutting
Our CNC knife-cutting table can produce highly complex profiles with no tooling costs, making it the perfect choice for prototypes, short runs, and geometries that would be impractical to tool as a die. Changes to part geometry can be made quickly and digitally, with no lead time or cost for new tooling.
