EMC Foam

Würth Elektronik EMC Foam
The base material is a polyolefin foam with a copper and nickel plated finish.
Across the family the data sheets quote a typical shielding effectiveness of around 82–87 dB at 100 MHz and 64–66 dB at 1 GHz, a surface resistance of 0.002 Ω/cm² (max) and a volume resistance of 0.1 Ω/mm² (max).
Operating and storage temperature range is –25 °C to +85 °C, and the material is rated as non-flaming and non-glowing under IEC 60695-2-11 at a test severity of 750 °C.
-
Five stock thicknesses (0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0 and 1.5 mm) covering a wide range of gap and compression requirements
-
Soft, compressible foam carrier with a conductive surface, suitable for low closure-force applications
-
Combined EMI shielding and electrical grounding function in a single part
-
Operating range from –25 °C to +85 °C and flame-retardant rating to IEC 60695-2-11
Typical applications
Converted EMC foam parts produced from this material family are commonly used in:
-
EMI/RFI shielding gaskets for electronic enclosures, cabinets and housings
-
Conductive pads and contact strips between PCBs, shielding cans and chassis
-
Grounding and bonding pads for displays, connectors and shielded compartments
-
Lid, door and access-panel seals on telecoms, industrial and consumer electronics equipment
-
Component-level shields and spacers within sub-assemblies

How we convert EMC Foam
This material is supplied to us in 1000 x 1000 mm sheets, so we convert it on our sheet-based machinery.
Our die-cutting and CNC knife table operations turn the sheets into bespoke gaskets, pads, frames, washers and similar profiles.
We can cut a wide variety of shapes, including parts with internal cut-outs, multiple openings and complex outlines, working from your CAD or sample.
Where a project calls for additional adhesive on the foam, we can optionally laminate a transfer adhesive to the sheet on our tape lamination machine prior to cutting, so the finished parts arrive ready to peel and apply.
Send us a drawing, sketch or sample together with the thickness you need, and we will quote converted parts in this conductive EMC foam family in the quantities required, from prototype runs through to ongoing production volumes.
