About ABM
Adhesive Backed Materials Ltd — converting expertise you can rely on
We've been turning rolls of raw material into finished, ready-to-use parts since 1993.
What began as a small family business making picture frame backings has grown, over three decades, into a trusted UK converter of adhesive-backed and technical materials.
ABM was founded by the late Gavin Bowden and his father Cyril, originally as ABM Labels & Print. It became a limited company in 2003, and has expanded steadily ever since — from our first 4,500 sq ft premises in Blackwood to the 12,000 sq ft factory in Tredegar we work from today.
In 2016 we became Adhesive Backed Materials Ltd: a name that finally matched what we actually do, while keeping the ABM identity our customers had come to know.
Everything under one roof
Lamination, slitting, kiss cutting, die cutting and CNC knife cutting all happen in-house, in a single production flow.
That means no sub-contracting, full traceability, and finished parts rather than half-processed material you have to take somewhere else.
Over the years we have produced everything from Double sided sticky pads that have gone into easter egg boxes to EMI/EMC shielding, thermal management pads and gaskets for electronics, to gaskets, pads and protective parts for industry, to EPDM foam strips, draught and weather seals for construction, we supply customers throughout the UK and into parts of Europe.
Easy to work with
We're not the biggest converter out there, and we don't want to be. We'd rather be genuinely good at what we do — offering plenty of options, staying flexible, and getting you what you need without fuss. Decades in the trade mean we can usually help solve a problem, not just quote on one.
Looking after our people
We believe a good business looks after the people in it. As members of the Living Wage Foundation, everyone at ABM is paid at or above the Real Living Wage — because an interesting job, a fair wage and a healthy work/life balance make for a happier team, and better parts for our customers.
