Single Sided Foam Tapes

Self-adhesive closed-cell foam tapes, converted to your specification

Our single-sided foam tapes bring together a closed-cell foam and a permanent, factory-applied adhesive on one face, supplied on a release liner ready for application. The range spans several foam types — PVC/nitrile, silicone, EPDM, neoprene, EVA and polyethylene (PE) — including standard and flame-retardant grades, so a suitable material can be matched to most sealing, gasketing, cushioning and insulation requirements

.

Material Properties & Benefits

Across the range, these foam tapes share a closed-cell structure and a self-adhesive backing. The closed-cell construction gives low water absorption and helps resist moisture, dust and draughts, making the materials well suited to sealing and gasketing. The permanent acrylic adhesive bonds to dry, damp, smooth, slightly rough and curved surfaces, and the foams remain flexible and conformable so they fit readily around contours and shaped parts.

Because the family covers several different foams, the properties can be matched to the demands of the application:

Sealing, gasketing & cushioning

  • Closed-cell foams that compress to form a seal and recover, providing weatherproofing and dust, draught and moisture exclusion.

  • A choice of firmness, from soft, highly conformable EVA and PE grades for light cushioning and padding, through resilient EPDM, to firm-grade neoprene for higher compression and load-bearing requirements.

  • Cushioning, anti-vibration and anti-rattle performance to protect components and reduce noise.

Temperature performance

  • Grades to suit a broad span of service temperatures, from general-purpose PE, EVA, EPDM and neoprene foams rated to around +80 °C to +100 °C, up to silicone foams rated for continuous use to +200 °C and above.

  • Low-temperature capability down to -40 °C on standard grades and as low as -60 °C on silicone foam.

Weather, ozone & ageing resistance

  • EPDM, silicone and PE foams offer good resistance to weathering, ozone and UV, supporting outdoor and environmental sealing.

  • Low water absorption and, on several grades, high resistance to water vapour transmission.

Fire performance

  • Flame-retardant and fire-rated grades are available, including PVC/nitrile foam classified to Euroclass B-s3, d0 and UK Building Regulations Class 0, flame-retardant silicone foam rated to UL94 V-0, and flame-retardant EPDM rated to UL94 HF-1.

  • These fire classifications apply to the foam substrate; suitability should be confirmed for any application that requires a specified flame rating of the complete tape.

Thermal & acoustic insulation

  • PVC/nitrile and polyethylene grades provide thermal insulation, with PVC/nitrile foam also offering high water vapour resistance for condensation control.

  • Polyethylene foam offers impact-sound and acoustic insulation alongside its thermal performance.

Clean, ready-to-use construction

  • Supplied with the adhesive already applied and protected by a release liner — simply peel and place.

  • Available in a range of thicknesses, with black and white options on several grades, and certain grades offering additional environmental and contact compliance.

Typical applications of Single Sided Foam Tapes

Once converted, single-sided foam tapes are used to produce a wide range of finished sealing, cushioning and insulation components. Typical products we manufacture from these materials include:

  • Die-cut gaskets and seals for enclosures, cabinets, panels and housings.

  • Weather seals and draught, dust and moisture exclusion strips for doors, windows and access panels.

  • Cushioning, packaging and protective padding pads, including anti-scratch and anti-rattle parts.

  • Anti-vibration pads and isolation parts for mounting and protecting components.

  • Acoustic and sound-damping pads.

  • Thermal insulation pads and wraps for HVAC, ductwork, pipework and chilled or refrigeration lines (PVC/nitrile and PE grades).

  • Glazing spacers, packing strips and setting blocks for window, door and panel assembly.

  • Washers, spacers, profiles and other shaped components.

  • Flame-retardant gaskets and seals for transport, rail, automotive interiors and electrical enclosures, using fire-rated grades.

  • Narrow self-adhesive foam strips and tapes, supplied on rolls for manual or in-line application.

Foam thickness, firmness, temperature range and fire performance can all be selected by choosing the appropriate grade from the range, and parts can be produced in a wide variety of shapes and sizes to suit the assembly.

How we convert Single Sided Foam Tapes

As the materials are in roll form, typically up to one metre wide, which means that we can convert them into finished parts using the most suitable process for the shape, size and production volume. We apply the adhesive of your choice to the material, then our work focuses on cutting and slitting it accurately into the components you need.

Die-Cutting

Using shaped cutting tools, die-cutting produces consistent, repeatable parts at higher volumes — ideal for gaskets, seals, washers, pads and other profiled components. It is well suited to production runs where the same part is needed many times over.

Kiss-Cutting

Kiss-cutting cuts through the foam and adhesive while leaving the release liner intact, so parts stay on the backing for easy peel-and-place application. This is particularly useful for self-adhesive components supplied on sheets or rolls for fast assembly.

CNC Knife Table Cutting

Our CNC knife table cuts parts directly from a digital drawing without the need for a cutting tool. This makes it ideal for large parts, lower-volume runs, prototypes and one-off shapes, as well as larger gaskets that fall outside the range of standard die-cutting.

Reel-to-Reel Slitting

Reel-to-reel slitting converts wide master rolls into narrower rolls and strips at the widths you require, supplied as continuous self-adhesive tape ready for manual or in-line application.

Lathe Slitting

Lathe slitting cuts the material into narrow rolls and rings, providing another route to producing self-adhesive foam strips and tapes from the master roll.

We can produce a wide range of shapes and sizes from these materials, and will advise on the most appropriate converting method for your part and quantity. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
